Drifters are also bloggers competing for position, however drifters compete for a chance at making it onto the Island by knocking the lowest ranking Islanders off the Island.

Readers not only get enjoy the best blogging content, they also get to vote for and track the progress of their favorite bloggers. Each day, Spin Island tally’s up the popularity of every posted article. Then we sum up all these popularity scores for each bloggers. Some bloggers may move up in popularity rank while others move down. On the Islanders page, we show readers any change in blogger rank at the top of the page. Islanders battle for prestige. But, they also battle for money. They earn a share of the blog’s profits based on how popular they are. They also battle for survival because only Islanders get paid. Drifters do not get paid for their article. But, they want to get paid. That means that they have to become more popular than the lowest Islander to take their position on the Island.

When a drifter has earned his/her way onto the Island, that means that the lowest Islander has been voted off the Island. When that happens, the ex-Islander becomes a drifter and must compete with other drifters at another chance to be allowed back onto the Island. This is the first blog to pay bloggers well, while being both entertaining and rutheless at the same time.
